
Kiwi’s thoughtful integration for Gmail with macOS doesn’t end there. But the resistance is that you can configure Kiwi to launch at startup as the default email client, a nice touch because Apple Mail offers a bare Gmail experience. You can drag and drop attachments into the compose window, with file sizes up to 25MB each, and even more (1TB) with Google Drive integration. New calendar messages or events can also be created via custom global keyboard shortcuts, which work whenever Kiwi is open, even when using other applications.

Since Kiwi connections are persistent, you can quickly switch between accounts by using shortcut icons at the top of the main window or via the optional menu bar that provides one-click access to compose messages in a new window like a real email client, plus a practical Do not disturb switch when it’s time to get the job done.

And not just Gmail: G Suite accounts are also supported, with one-click access to Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides from separate windows. To start, Kiwi manages up to six different accounts, each with its own color theme from among 10 available choices. Kiwi offers the Gmail experience you know and love without the inherent limitations of a web browser. At first glance, Kiwi looks pretty much like the web-based G Suite disguised as an application – which it is technically – but small details make a big difference. What do you get when you extract the Google experience from a web browser and integrate it into a standalone application? Kiwi for Gmail 2.0, the closest we will likely ever see to a native Gmail client for macOS.
